Andalucía Occidental

The Andalucía-Occidental node, led by the researcher Pepa Ramírez Cobo (University of Cádiz), is composed of researchers whose main areas of work include Statistical Learning, Bayesian Methods, Multivariate Dependence, and Wavelet Theory, applied to biomedical and environmental problems, among others.

Main lines of investigation

The research projects of the node members focus on new methodological developments in explainable and fair statistical learning, stochastic models for recurrent data, stochastic orderings in a multivariate context, risk measurement and comparison, Bayesian methods in ecology, astronomy, and reliability, as well as general biostatistical modeling of high-frequency data (see poster).

Some current research lines of this node include:

  • Fair and interpretable prediction algorithms.
  • Stochastic modeling using semi-Markov processes for recurrent events with censoring.
  • Survival analysis.
  • Multi-scale analysis and spectral tools based on wavelet theory for self-similar biostatistical data.
  • Fractality analysis in medical images.
  • Bayesian robustness.
  • Statistical inference for dependent counting processes.
  • Renewal processes applied to biodiversity.
  • Reliability and copula theory.
