Main lines of investigation

The main lines of research (see poster) are:

  • Multivariate analysis of omic data
  • Data fusion and data mining of biomedic data
  • Modelling of the dynamics of biological processes
  • Measures of agreement, classification and diagnosis
  • Causal inference
  • Meta-analysis
  • Text mining
  • Probabilistic inverse problems
  • Coding in R, Python, PHP, C++/Delphi, Mathematica, Matlab, Stata

In these lines, some fields of application are framed, such as

  • Disease classification and biomarker discovery
  • Modelling and analysis of metabolism dynamics
  • Development of computational methods in the field of biomechanics
  • Optimization of biomedical sensors
  • Analysis of the epidemiology of cancer
  • Latent class analysis in medical diagnosis
  • Analysis of the dynamics of epidemiological processes
  • Analysis of electronic patient records by text mining
  • Software development for the analysis of genomic data
  • Software development for the analysis of inter-rater agreement

Institutions present in the node

Biostatistics consulting activities

They are carried out under three perspectives:

(A) RESEARCH CONTRACTS, by means of which all or part of the members of the NODE collaborate with various entities by means of an economic counterpart, in scientific and technological activities.

(B) COLLABORATION IN PUBLISHED ARTICLES, whereby individual members of the team provide statistical advice on various scientific papers that are published outside the field of statistics. Since the collaboration is very intensive, the consequence is that the article will include the statistician as co-author. In the last 10 years this has resulted in 228 publications.

(C) NON-STATISTIC RESEARCH PROJECTS, whereby members of the group collaborate with other non-statistical groups in the medical field.
