DoE+Bioinformatics

The DoE+Bioinformatics node, co-directed by José Manuel Sánchez Santos (USAL University of Salamanca + CIC-USAL Cancer Research Center) and Licesio Rodríguez Aragón (UCLM University of Castilla-La Mancha) is made up of researchers whose main lines of research are focused on the Optimal Experimental Design and Data Analysis in the field of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. It has members and collaborators from national and international universities, as well as the Public Health School University of California, companies such as ENUSA and biosanitary research centers such as the Salamanca Cancer Research Center (CIC-USAL-CSIC).

Main lines of investigation

The DoE+Bioinformatics node is made up of researchers spread throughout the national territory but united by a history of scientific collaboration of more than 20 years in various research lines and stands out for its multidisciplinary work in methodological and applied development in biosanitary, experimental and social sciences.

Among the current lines of research in this node (see poster) we cite:

·         Optimal designs for Two-Level Factorial Experiments.

·         Optimal designs for Poisson models applied to the discipline of toxicology.

·         Adaptive designs with applications to clinical trials and survival studies.

·         Optimal experimental design for exponential models of life times or duration of devices.

·         Optimal compartmental designs for modeling the human body with radioactive particle retention models (collaboration: ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas S.A.).

·         Spatial design applied to disciplines such as Biology or Biomedicine in addition to its traditional application to geographic data.

·         Biokinetic models on the distribution of pollutants in the environment.

·         Combined multivariate analysis of clinical data and complex omics data.

·         Machine Learning, Active Learning and Deep Learning on biomedical data.

·         Survival analysis, risk and response prediction.

·         Biological and biomedical data modelling, biokinetic and pharmacokinetic modelling.

·         Combined analysis of complex omic data and clinical data with algorithms developed in R and Bioconductor.
